Response to Weight Loss re: diets
Honestly, I think you can lose weight by eating anything, just as long as you don’t eat too much. I don’t think diet plans work because of the plan itself or that there’s some special effect of eating a particular ratio of foods or whatever. And there’s no magic diet or pill that can make you lose weight. Diets only work if you are mindful of the amount of food you are eating, so you can eat whatever you want in small quantities and have the same effect if you just want to lose weight. Now whether or not you can live healthily by eating whatever you want is a different story.
Anyway, it pisses me off to no end to see the ridiculous amounts of diet books and idiotic weight loss books that are published nowadays that are based on restrictive plans where you eliminate certain foods, or only eat a certain type of food. It’s stupid. Eat less and move more – that’s from Marion Nestle’s book “What To Eat”. It’s an awesome book that’s not about dieting. It’s about where your food comes from, what’s in your food, and how it’s marketed to you. And the best part is that you don’t have to read it cover to cover, you can just read the parts that interest you the most, and eventually you’ll find that you’ve read the whole thing and you have been both educated and entertained. She is a very readable writer.
