Amuse Yourself

I just found some old web pages from my very first website, the first incarnation of Patty’s Health Corner. I actually started out writing about various ‘health-related’ topics, and I had to code the page (yes, it was just ONE page) myself, with my extremely limited html skills. Then I realized that it made more sense to have a home page with links to the other pages. Basically, they are just pages of plain text and the occasional picture. The fanciest parts were the colours and maybe the use of bold font. And it wasn’t updated very often because I hated moving the links around. And it wasn’t very organized because I did not know how. But I still think they are awesome because they are completely ridiculous. I’m really glad I kept all the old pages. I remember at one point thinking maybe I should delete them, since they were outdated and not useful anymore, but I kept them because I’m a pack-rat and it pains me to discard things AND they didn’t take up that much space, so I just left them on my hard drive. It’s funny to read stuff you wrote years ago and see that you are still the same person, the same silly things can still make you laugh. Maybe you wouldn’t write some of those things again, but you can still recognize yourself in how and in what you wrote. At the time you write it, you can’t really appreciate how awesome it will be to read it years later, but when you go back, it’s so much fun to see yourself in that moment. I kind of regret deleting certain posts now.

Anyway, all of this made me wonder if everyone finds themselves amusing in retrospect. I hope so.

I was going to load all the old pages, but I’ve got to take screen shots so that they can be viewed in their original multi-coloured glory, so that will take a while to do all that. In the mean time:

I forgot how much I talked about bloating. I really do think I am more bloated now than I ever was then. I think back then it was more often menstrual bloating, and now it’s usually food-related bloating. In any case, I know I’ve always loved the word.
