My Thighs are Getting Bigger + Weight Loss Strategy

I measured my thigh circumference today. It is 1 cm bigger than last month, and 4 cm bigger than 3-4 years ago, when I already thought they were big. My thighs get bigger when I exercise.

I can currently only fit into 3 pairs of my regular pants, and one of them has developed unsightly holes and I probably will not be able to wear them in public much longer. None of those pants are suitable for summer. I have one skirt that fits, just because I bought it one size too big. I’m not wearing shorts in public anymore, except for running/exercise purposes.

So, my new weight loss strategy is to eat foods that I do not particularly like. For instance, I love frozen corn. I’ve been buying a lot of it lately, but today, I bought frozen peas. I hate peas. They are mushy and don’t taste particularly good, but I will eat them. Actually, hate is a strong word, I severely dislike them and never in my life, until now, have I bought an entire package of peas. I have, in the past, bought mixed vegetable medleys that contain peas, but I usually avoided those ones too.

Eating peas will ensure that I will eat enough to keep me alive, but not enough to overfeed myself. I won’t even be tempted to eat more peas than is absolutely necessary for my daily vegetable requirement. I’m making stew tonight, I think I will throw some peas in there too. I just have to be careful not to eat too much of the ‘good’ food to replace the peas. To guard against that, I may have to switch to a diet of all ‘yuck’ food.

Oh, another selling point for peas: they have 2x the fiber that corn does. Really, corn is not that nutritious. I just like it.

Also, last week I bought 2 lbs of chick peas. I like those better than peas. I bought those to make hummus and also to eat on their own because they are a good source of fiber and protein. And you can make it ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge. I just have to find some decent recipes first.

P.S. I just realized another example of inadvertent success with the ‘yuck’ food regime. Two nights ago I made another batch of the Oatmeal Raisin Muffins. I ate the first batch, 18 muffins, within 2 days. This time, I slightly undercooked them, not on purpose, I just didn’t taste them until the next day, so I didn’t realize it right away, and I noticed they were kind of dry and didn’t taste as good. Then today I remembered that I forgot to add the oil for the recipe. So, these muffins, they kind of suck, but they are not so bad that you wouldn’t eat them. As a result, it’s Day 2 and I still have 3/4 of the batch left. I ate 4 of those first batch muffin within 15 minutes of coming out of the oven. With the second batch, I think I have eaten 2 at one sitting.
